Francisco González Pulido (FGP) is an internationally recognized Mexican architect and the founder of ATELIER FGP, a global practice based in Chicago dedicated to rethinking the way we inhabit the world. Over the course of more than three decades, Francisco has developed a vision of architecture as a balance between science, art, technology, and human experience, always guided by a central idea: lightness as both a physical and metaphysical principle—a constant pursuit of simplifying, minimizing, and creating structures that, with the greatest subtlety, can protect, inspire, and connect us.
His portfolio spans large-scale and complex projects—airports, stadiums, skyscrapers, and mixed-use developments—as well as cultural, residential, and community works that explore new forms of social and environmental impact. Among his most notable projects are the new Mexico City Airport, the Major League Baseball stadium for the Diablos Rojos, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Plaza, the Shenzhen Gate complex in China, and community projects in Chicago and Oaxaca. His practice extends across the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, earning multiple international awards for design innovation and excellence.
Born in Mexico City and trained as an architect at TEC de Monterrey, Francisco expanded his academic and professional vision at Harvard and MIT, where he engaged with disciplines such as science, technology, and contemporary art—fields that have profoundly shaped his interdisciplinary approach. Beyond his design work, he has served as a visiting professor and lecturer at universities across the United States, Europe, and Latin America, sharing his philosophy of holistic design that transcends aesthetics to focus on performance, sustainability, and human experience.
In 2021, his work and that of the Atelier were published in the monograph Progression by Hatje Cantz Verlag, documenting the evolution of a practice deeply committed to transforming our cities and the way we live within them.
